KWSG implores residents to patronize waste collectors – The Sun Nigeria
From LAYI OLANREWAJU, Ilorin
The Kwara State Government has implored the people of Metropolitan Ilorin to always patronize commercial waste collectors to consolidate the current administration’s efforts to enhance a clean and hygienic environment.
The State Commissioner for the Environment, Mrs. Remilekun Oluwatobi Banigbe revealed this on Tuesday during an interaction with journalists at the ministry’s headquarters.
According to her, “The current administration under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has invested heavily in achieving a clean and hygienic environment that will be livable for the Kwarans.
“Therefore, it is mandatory for every citizen to attend commercial waste collectors for proper disposal to the final landfill site.”
The commissioner pointed out that the indiscriminate dumping of waste will wreak havoc in society and will also increase government expenditure.
She therefore warned that, from now on, anyone caught dumping on the embankment or inside the drainage will be prosecuted under Kwara State Environmental Law.
Ms. Banigbe also implored the commercial waste handlers to always fulfill their responsibilities as per the agreement signed with the government for effective and efficient waste disposal in the state.
