BRISBANE, Australia, June 29, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — NOVONIX Limited (NASDAQ: NVX, ASX: NVX, OTCQX: NVNXF) (“NOVONIX” or “the Company”), a leading battery materials and technology company, is proud to announce that its GX-23 Synthetic Anode Graphite Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) clearly demonstrated approximately 60% decrease in Global Warming Potential (GWP) compared to conventional anode-grade synthetic graphite produced in Inner Mongolia, China, and approximately 30% decrease in GWP compared to natural graphite anode grade in Heilongjiang Province, China. The two regions of China contain the largest operators and producers of synthetic and natural anode grade graphite in the world, accounting for 79% of global production. These results demonstrate NOVONIX’s continued commitment to being a leader in the clean energy transformation of the battery industry.

LCA results conducted by Minviro Ltd, a UK-based and globally recognized sustainability and lifecycle assessment consultancy, also reported an approximately 67% reduction in GWP in NMC batteries. -811 using NOVONIX synthetic graphite, which is about 2.5 times better than conventional synthetic graphite produced in Inner Mongolia. There was about 40% reduction in GWP in LFP batteries using NOVONIX synthetic graphite compared to natural graphite from Heilongjiang Province. The results also confirm NOVONIX offers as one of the best in class for longer battery life and greater energy efficiency.
NOVONIX commissioned an ACV to support the company’s position at the forefront of sustainable battery research and production. The LCA has been critically reviewed by independent LCA experts, who confirm that the LCA performed complies with ISO-14040:2006 and ISO-14044:2006 standards.
